    RESEARCH INTERESTS:

David V. LeMone joined the faculty at the in 1964 after completing three years at the University of Southern Mississippi as an Associate Professor. He spent three years working in West Texas, Four Corners region, southern New Mexico, and Arizona as a geologist in the petroleum industry in the period between 1953 and 1961. Since arriving at the University, he has concentrated his studies on the stratigraphy and paleontology of the sedimentary sequences of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. He is particularly interested in the regional biostratigraphy of the Paleozoic (Ordovician-Permian) and Mesozoic (Late Jurassic-Late Cretaceous), primarily carbonate sediments. He also is interested in the classic Permian Basin sequence, an area where there are many outstanding petroleum reservoir and secondary-tertiary recovery problems still to be solved. He has worked on a number of Paleontological Clearances in preparation of Environmental Impact Statements for coal leases in the San Juan Basin during the late seventies and early eighties. In the last twelve years, he has become active in the national and international political, legal, and technical problems of nuclear-related, fuel cycle, and legacy nuclear wastes.
