“Saligrams that Hindu in Nepal worship as God Vishnu, the god of care, is nothing than the fossil ammonites; the rocks that make up the highest peak of the world was formed by deposition of sediments in once existing but now vanished sea–the Tethys; the continents in the earth at a time in the long history were together and later were tore apart from each other; Himalaya, the longest mountain chain in the world, came to existence only 65 million years ago” and the like were the statements in my mind that always fascinated and led me to join geology major in the Bachelor of Science at Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal and later on in the Master of Science at TU.
I always want to be ahead on my profession. But some
limitations on our graduate study owing to limited lab facilities, technical
resources and the like has made me to realize that my expertise on the field
not adequate. That is what triggered me to go for an academic degree at University
of Texas at El Paso ,
It would be honest to affirm that I have never secured the
topmost rank throughout my academic career, except few during my primary
education, which I suppose is not quite significant. But I believe what is more
important is curiosity, pursuit and quest for knowledge.
